For a while, I was playing Pokemon: Diamond for the Nintendo DS. I got pretty far into the game as I recall, obtained five of the eight badges in the game. But, I got sidetracked with the Transformers games for the DS when they hit and put Pokemon aside. When I tried to get back into Pokemon: Diamond, I had no idea where I was in the game or what I needed to do despite the game's (rather poor) diary system. So, I traded it in with some other games rather than start all over again. I wish I hadn't because I get the urge to play it now and I don't feel like buying it again.
My starter Pokemon for Pokemon: Diamond was Turtwig, the light-green guy the the two leaves sticking out of his head in the picture. I named him Jazz, after my favorite Transformer - which didn't really suit the female critter too well, and battled enough with her to go through the two evolutions. The first being Grotle (the Pokemon in the middle) and the final form being Torterra (the one on the platform). When I still had the game, the toys started to hit and I found a 3-pack with Turtwig in it, so I picked it up. She came with a Pikachu and some yellow and pink flower-looking thing I forget the name of. Last week, I came across Torterra. And I finally found a single-packed Grotle last night at Target.
Turtwig features no articulation, but has the power to look very cute. Grotle has articulation in at the shoulders/hips and that's it. She also came with a small marble with her picture on it. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that. I have a larger Grotle that also has a sound-chip in it so when you press the button on the back you can hear her say her name, as that's how all Pokemon talk. Poor things. Torterra has neck, shoulder, and hip articulation and comes with an interlocking battle stand so you can "fight" other Pokemon with stands.
The scale of these is unfortunate because as I understand it Turtwig is the size of a small dog, Grotle a horse, and Torterra bigger than an elephant. At least my electronic Grotle is more to scale with Turtwig than the smaller toys. Maybe they'll come out with an even bigger Torterra some day.
