for everyone

If you're lucky, on your next trip to Wal-Mart you may be able to find the latest batch of exclusive Transformers toys.  You can read about the complete run-down here.  One of the short-packed toys (only 2 per case of 9 figures - smart, Hasbro), is Big Daddy.  Yeah, his name is Big Daddy.  See, back when the original line of Transformers was dying off in favor of Micromachines and Power Rangers, there was a Micromaster Patrol of four cars called the Hot Rod Patrol.  One of the members was a black and orange muscle car named Big Daddy.  Like many fans, I assumed he was the group leader due to his name.  A lot of fans really liked this guy for the name and he was even featured in some of the more recent Dreamwave Transformers comics.

Fast forward to 2008 and Big Daddy is back, this time sharing a mold with the Transformers Cybertron toy Downshift.  This is one of the few exceptions to the rule of my no longer buying Transformers.  I really like the Downshift mold and also like Big Daddy.  So, this was a no-brainer.  It helps that the other figures in this assortment are molds I don't like teamed up with withe characters, names, or colors I don't care for.  So, I'm happy to have BD back in my collection.  A few years back, I sold my Hot Rod Patrol on eBay for over $35.  Considering I paid $4-5 for it at Toys R Us, I think that was a good trade off.
