I don't know if this was ever offered on TV, because I don't remember it at all and I'd like to think I would (there are opening and ending credits for each episode and they're 22 minutes long each). But, a new series of Fantastic Four cartoons is making it's way to DVD 4 episodes at a time and this is a review of the first offering.

I don't care for it. It's pretty, in a West-meets-Anime style, but that's about it. I didn't feel any of the voices matched the characters except for The Thing and the character models make the FF look evil most of the time, just look at the cover.

For being the first disc in the series, I was expecting the origin story revisited. That didn't happen, so unless you have a working knowledge of the FF, you won't know why these people have their super powers, why they all act like idiots, or why Dr. Doom is trying to kill them.

What also doesn't help is that the episodes appear to be out of order. The last episode on the disc is referenced by the first episode, so there's yet another blow to this pretty, but very disappointing animated series. This gets two stars because it is pretty to look at, provided you mute the TV. I'd give it one, but it's not the worst thing I've wasted my time on.
